Review: How to Make It In America.

February 9th, 2010

A little while back I heard about this show How To Make It In America and how it was supposed to be a newer type of Entourage but based in New York. I watched the pilot earlier today not knowing much about the show and after the 28 minute pilot was through I realized that if you thought NY sucked now, it is 100% going to suck even more post this show airing.  Granted there were some cool parts but in reality just the premise is awful.  For example it takes place in New York City in which two of the main characters are trying to make it, one a failed creative (standard) and the other friend a hustling damn the man type of guy.  The pilot plays into EVERY cliche of NYC.  Example A- they go to a friends photo show.  Example B- a failed designer has a grip of skate decks laying around his pretty dope apartment. Example C- Supreme beanie product placement.  I can’t say its not accurate cause tons of people are putting on gallery shows rolling around in Range Rovers.  I mean there are a ton more examples but here is just another show about people “trying to make it”.  If everyone didn’t have a t-shirt brand post this show I am sure those numbers will sky rocket.  It’s also funny cause these dudes didn’t even like work and save money to make their product. Just get an investor  I guess thats the new hustlers spirit.  Personally I just think it’s 100% beat.  I am sure they will reveal in later episodes the designer used to be a graff head and was once a DJ too.  Some may call me a hater and I am sure tons of people love this show cause it shows the grind of New York City.  I am hyped to see more things exploited.  Good looks HBO.

Remember Back In The Day..

February 3rd, 2010

The End was a video Birdhouse put out when I was a young buck and had a pretty huge impact on me.  I recently have been watching a lot of Andrew Reynolds clips because his style is just so unreal.  He is definitely one of my top 5 favorite skaters.  Afterwards I figured I’d look up his epicly later’d and there two here is the better one at least in my opinion.  It gives a little more insight.  Enjoy.
