The man with the camera(s) posted a new clip on vimeo with his new rig. First day out with the new gear and not bad if you ask me. Get siked for Spring Ahead Fallbehind.
There will be a better clip of me stuffing my face tomorrow with the same set up.
Jeff Staple is a pretty influence on me me design wise. He’s a veteran and every time I read or see an interview with him he is pretty spot on. Check these two videos out. Read More
Like most things counter -culture they are discovered by the mainstream and ruined. Every hipster living in the greater city areas have been turned onto fixed gear bikes and most have wrecked it. I am pretty hyped not many heads out here in the burbs have been turned onto them. I should really bite my tongue on this one. Regardless, just saw this video and it got me siked to get back on my bike. I need to find a crew. I have a homie who rides but he shuns the fixed/track stee.
Mighty Healthy was just featured on Hypebeast for a little taste of their day to day. It is always nice to see locals getting that global shine. Oh yeah and if you’re looking to get some Mighty gear of your own. Please stop by and get your fix.
This morning a buddy sent me over a link of an old youtube clip with some footage of himself on there, telling me to check the comments. I did so and saw nothing but hate. First off, I’ve learned if its not your cup of tea, then you don’t have to drink it. So be easy on your fellow skater. After talking about how the amount of hate these days is above and beyond the conversation led to talking about the lack of understanding in skateboarding today in regards to stee. If you’re unfamiliar with the term stee it means style. Not to sound like a bitter old man, but in my eyes I see a lack of doing tricks well. Seems as if kids would rather have their board bounce off the ground doing a 540 flip, rather then having a perfect looking kickflip. This kind of bums me out in regards to skating because seeing dudes with good style is so much better then watching just tricks. Growing up skating on the east coast this is super important because every kid in California can do every trick you can do no matter what, so being an east coast kid you have to set yourself apart a bit. That means having a style they can’t touch. This stuff was brought to my attention watching older skate videos like Photosynthesis watching Wenning and Popps just skating fast, switch, pop – outs. Making shit look effortless. It sucks, but a lot of the importance of this is lost today. I’m not throwing hate on anyone just bringing it to peoples attention. Personally I wish I was good enough to lead by example. The Blvd dudes had it on lock when I was younger. If they did a trick and it didn’t look good you can believe they were doing it again. There are definitely some dudes staying correct here on the Island with out mentioning names. But they’re definitely out there. Here are some clips of some style kings. Please don’t take this post the wrong way, I just think that people should understand style, and show some more love.
“If you’re not going fast and not looking good then what’s the point”-k. morris
Enjoy.
They changed Ginos song on youtube. Sucks. But watch and learn.
For you creative heads out there, this ones for you. I came across this over on the Rebel 8 site. Mike Giant has been one of my favorites for a while. Considering he draws better then probably 95% of the planet, what he can do with a can of paint is pretty remarkable as well. The way he does that fill-in is so tough. And he’s got handstyles for days. You young bucks are lacking. Enjoy the weather. Get on the board!
This past Sunday there was a contest over at Oil City skatepark. Tough place to have a contest because there’s no where to do a line at all. Regardless there was a good turn out and the little homie Christian impressed us all with his steez. Kid rocked up with the 51st kit on and smashed it. JoeFace has some fantastic commentary as the emcee. The older dudes definitely did some damage , I am not going to name anything or name names cause I will forget someone and feel lousy. More importantly, this video above is thanks to James Carlin. If this kid reads this you get 15% anything in the store because we are putting you on blast. Hope you’re feeling better buddy.
I am a fan of Supreme and this is inspirational. Some might think this lame but whatevs. I like the coloration on the edit as well. In more important news shop will be open Sunday 12- 6. Come by there are some recession style prices still going on so maybe stock up for summer.
